St John's Community Judo Club was one of a number that attentded an inter club competition at the Galway City Judo Club on March 4th. It was an opportunity for some of our younger members to gain some experience and have some fun.
For the club it was a chance to continue to build strong links with the Galway Club and we thank Chris Hickey and his team. For the parents it was a long day and we thank them for their support.

Parents/members are reminded that 2012 membership fees are now due. The club would like to stress that in accordance with IJA policy that 'No membership, No Insurance, No Judo' rule applies. So be prompt.. or we will have to exclude your child from the mat....
|The 39th IJA Leinster Open was held last weekend (8th and 9th Octiber 2011) in Finglas. This is the first IJA tournament that the club has attended. Brendan Mullen, Tansy and Blaithin Ryan and Rachel Corcoran represented the club. The standard was very high. All our competitors did the club proud encountering stiff opposition. Particular congratulations go to Rachel Cocoran(pictured below) who won a Silver Medal in the women cadets under 48kg category.|
The club had six members taking part in the Community Games 2011 National Finals in Athlone. This was our largest number to date and builds on our success from previous years at the national finals. We won 6 medals, a gold, 4 silver and a bronze.
